Kristin Welch, DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Kristin Welch founded DVM STAT Consulting out of a love of teaching, a passion for veterinary medicine, and a deep dedication to Emergency and Critical Care, building a platform that brings specialty support and education to clinicians far more widely than was previously possible. What drives her most is helping colleagues solve complicated cases and deliver the highest caliber of medicine to their patients.

A 2005 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine with Honors, she received the Small Animal Clinical Proficiency Award and the Wade O. Brinker Orthopedic Surgery Award. Following an Internship in Medicine and Surgery at University of Pennsylvania in 2006, she completed a residency in Emergency and Critical Care at Tufts University in 2010. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. With more than 15 years in referral practice post-residency spanning clinical, leadership, and hospital startup and ownership roles, Dr. Welch has a deep passion for ensuring that clinicians are supported and equipped with the tools they need to thrive in this profession.

Dr. Welch's clinical interests include anesthesia, respiratory emergencies, endocrine emergencies, trauma, fluid resuscitation, and transfusion medicine. She is proficient in diagnostic ultrasound as well as upper GI endoscopy.

Dr. Welch loves teaching in every format, from conference lectures and podcasts to webinars and hands-on clinical skills labs. She has been an adjunct lecturer for the Veterinary Technology program at Trident Technical College. She has published in the Journal of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery, Clinical Veterinary Advisor, and Trends, an official publication of the American Animal Hospital Association.
