Michelle Silver, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)
At a young age, Dr. Michelle Silver knew she wanted to work with animals. While in vet school, her childhood dog was diagnosed with lung cancer. This immediately drew her into specialty and sparked her passion for oncology.
After earning her DVM at Iowa State University, she went on to a rotating internship followed by a specialty oncology internship in Virginia. She spent the year after her specialty internship assisting with clinical trials in Washington, DC. Afterward, she completed a 3 year residency at New England Veterinary Oncology Group in Massachusetts and received her board certification.
Dr. Silver believes in an integrative approach to treating cancer, which means treating not just the cancer, but the whole patient. The most rewarding part of her career is having the opportunity to improve the patient’s quality of life and providing owners more time with their four-legged family members. She is excited to be able to bring oncology to those who may not have easy access to a specialty hospital and work closely with the referring veterinarians.
Dr. Silver currently works at a large referral/ER clinic in Maryland. When she is not working, Dr. Silver, her husband and dogs enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and pretty much anything outdoors.
