Beyond Cytology — True Clinical Partnership

  • Clinical pathology with clinical correlation

  • Case review of external pathology reports — helping you understand the findings and what to do next

  • Guidance on ancillary testing (IHC, PARR, culture, etc.) and which lab to use for best results

  • Investigation of unusual morbidity/mortality events in herds, flocks, breeders, shelters, and wildlife

More Than a Report — A Partner in Case Management

From digital cytology to post-mortem case review, DVM STAT Pathology gives you the “what” and the “what next” — so you can make the best decisions for your patients and clients.

How Telecytology Works

Step 1 – Capture Your Images

  • Take 3–6 pictures or short videos (30–60 seconds each) at 100x magnification

  • Scan slowly across the slide, pausing on areas with concentrated, relevant cells

  • Optional: Take only still images if the sample is sparse

Step 2 – Focus Your Scan

  • Review slides at 10x and 40x first to identify the best areas for high-magnification imaging

Step 3 – Upload Your Files

  • Transfer videos to your computer and label clearly by site (e.g., “Spleen 1,” “Liver 2”)

  • Upload through the DVM STAT portal with a case history and your clinical question

Your Pathology Report

Not Just a Diagnosis — A Path to Action

Every report includes:

  • Cytologic findings in clear, concise language

  • Likely diagnosis and differentials

  • Clinical context drawn from relevant veterinary literature

  • Recommended next steps — diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical

When to Request a Clinical Pathology Consult

  • Offering clients faster, more affordable options for decision-making

  • In-house cytology lacking a clear answer

  • External pathology report needing clinical interpretation

  • Deciding whether confirmatory or ancillary testing is worth it

  • Investigating unexpected morbidity/mortality events

What to Expect from a Clinical Pathology Report
