Sophie Amirsultan DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Amirsultan is a board-certified specialist in emergency and critical care. In her previous career, she was a certified veterinary technician (CVT), working in both private practice and as a civilian veterinary technician for the US Army. She completed residency training at NC State University, and continued her academic career as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida.

Her professional interests include clinical teaching (there is nothing quite like that 'aha' moment of a concept making sense!), the multifaceted management of ICU cases, acid-base and advanced fluid therapy, and advanced respiratory therapies. Living in Florida has exposed her to a wide variety of unique cases, such as snake envenomations, polytrauma (by golf cart and alligator), and numerous toxins.

On a personal note, she is a cat-deficient cat aficionado (with only two cats...if they got along, the possibilities for cat numbers would be endless!) and a sweet, senior dog named Samosa. She dabbles in hobbies to include - reading, sourdough baking, lego assemblage, traveling, and hiking/ paddle boarding. She recently hit a 'bird life goal' of viewing thousands of Atlantic Puffins in Canada.
